About Us

EASTBAY Works is a network of 13 One-Stop Business and Career Centers located throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties in Northern California. These One-Stop Career Centers are available to the entire community — businesses, job seekers, youth, and the general public — at no charge. The One-Stop Centers offer universal access to core employment services, and referrals directly to jobs, training, education or other employment services. Businesses are able to access a variety of services specifically designed to increase their competitiveness and to grow their bottom line.

EASTBAY Works One-Stop Business and Career Centers are funded by the Workforce Investment Board of Alameda County, the Workforce Development Board of Contra Costa, the Workforce Investment Board of the City of Oakland and the Workforce Investment Board of the City of Richmond.

The Workforce Investment Boards are charged with developing a new Workforce Development System, mandated by the Federal Workforce Investment Act. The new system will offer coordinated access to employment and training, education, and economic development services to job seekers and businesses in our two Counties.

Also, the Workforce Investment Boards are charged with integrating a workforce system that is flexible, seamless, and responsive to the needs of both job seekers and business. To accomplish this system building, the Boards leverage the resources of 19 mandated partners and other funding sources. To see a list of our Partners click on the "Partners" page.

The Workforce Investment Boards are composed of business, civic, education, labor and other community leaders. They are influential policy boards, which direct federal, state and private funding for occupational skills training and educational programs. The Boards have been called upon to play a major role in a variety of key state employment initiatives.
